Okay, so you’ve decided to the tie the knot..what’s the first thing that you want to do? Find the dress, of course! It is every brides dream to find the perfect dress for that special day but, things have changed when it comes to choosing. While white is usually the colour of choice, more and more brides are steering away from the tradition and branching out into a new trend – coloured wedding dresses! (yes, you’re reading this correctly)
Some modern brides are daring to be different and incorporating colour not only into their décor, but also their dress! To ease into it, you can take a more subtle approach by adding just a hint of colour – a fresh, turquoise sash to accompany your summer wedding, perhaps? Coloured sashes are a perfect way to add a bit of flare to your dress if you’re not ready to take the leap to a full-coloured gown. This is a great way to match with your bridesmaids dresses too.
It would take a courageous, fashion forward fearless bride-to-be, to successfully pull off a solid coloured gown, I think, no? One celebrity to embrace this new trend: Reese Witherspoon. She wore a pale blush-hued gown at her March, 2011 wedding. Her gown was widely accepted and complimented by critics. Who knows, maybe having a coloured wedding dress will be the new tradition?!
I am all for breaking away from traditions and trying something new but I just don’t think wearing a red/pink/black or any full-coloured wedding dress would work for me. Or my dad. Or my mother. On the other hand, if you’re daring enough to try a full colour gown – all the power to you!
